Discover the art of matcha preparation: from traditional to modern

Welcome to the fascinating world of matcha, a green powder that impresses not only with its taste, but also with its diverse preparation methods. Today we take you on a journey that combines the traditional tea ceremony with the modern preparation of a matcha latte. Our protagonist on this journey of discovery is our Yama Matcha, a high-quality, organic-certified matcha directly from Kagoshima's lush tea gardens.

The traditional tea ceremony with our Ceremonial Matcha

The traditional Japanese tea ceremony, also known as “Chanoyu,” is an art form that has been refined over centuries. It celebrates the simple, meditative preparation and enjoyment of matcha in an atmosphere of harmony and respect. Our Ceremonial Matcha, known for its exquisite sweetness and deep umami, is ideal for this ceremony. This is how you prepare it traditionally:

  1. Preparation : Heat the tea bowl (chawan) with hot water and then dry it. This helps regulate the temperature during preparation.
  2. Matcha dosage : Using a bamboo spoon (chashaku), add two heaped spoonfuls of Ceremonial Matcha to the preheated bowl.
  3. Whisk : Add about 70 ml of water (at about 80°C) to the bowl. Then use a bamboo whisk (Chasen) to whip the tea in quick W-shaped movements until a fine foam forms.
  4. Enjoy : Take a moment to appreciate the color and aroma of the matcha before enjoying it in small sips.

Modern matcha latte with our Daily Matcha

For those who like something a little more modern, the matcha latte is a creative and delicious alternative. The Daily Matcha gives this drink a special touch thanks to its organic quality and rich flavors from Kagoshima. This is how you mix the perfect matcha latte:

  1. Prepare Matcha : Sift a heaping spoonful of Daily Matcha into a bowl to avoid lumps. Add 50 ml warm water (not boiling) and beat the matcha until smooth.
  2. Froth milk : Heat 250 ml of your preferred milk (cow, almond, oat milk) and froth it. For an extra creamy latte, use a milk frother.
  3. Assembling the matcha latte : Carefully pour the foamed matcha into a glass and then fill it with the foamed milk.
  4. Refine and enjoy : For a sweet note, you can add agave syrup or honey. Stir carefully and enjoy your modern matcha latte.

Whether you choose the meditative tradition of the tea ceremony or prefer the modern path of the matcha latte, Yama Matcha from Kagoshima offers the perfect basis for an incomparable taste experience with its organic quality, sweetness and umami. Be inspired by the diversity of matcha and discover your own favorite preparation.
